When to see a specialist

Advanced maternal age is a major cause of infertility in women. It is advised that women under the age of 35 should seek assistance after 12 months and women over the age of 35 should seek fertility treatment after 6 months. Queensland Fertility Group encourages couples over the age of 30 who are experiencing difficulties to be proactive with their investigations and see a specialist sooner rather than later!

If you are trying to become pregnant and have experienced any of the factors that may contribute to infertility, it is a good idea to discuss your situation with your GP.  Your GP is the most qualified person to explain to you the intricacies and problems associated with your concerns about infertility. They can give you advice on how you may be able to increase fertility, maximize conception and can start investigations.
